Subject notes
The building was originally Skaithmuir Mill. By the late 19th century the buildings were used as a forge. The business later specialised in general smiddy work, including shoeing horses. Although listed, it was demolished in 1988. After being heated in the furnace, the shoe is worked so that it will be a close fit for the individual horse. The farrier is re-using an empty paint container, possibly to hold water.
