Description
View of a 'shade decked vessel' with a continuous upper deck of light construction. Side openings have been boarded up for the passage to India. She has a single funnel, and fore-and-aft rigged sails furled against the foremast and mainmast. Behind her is a full rigged sailing ship and a brig.

The forward bridge indicates that ship was designed for navigating in confined waters. SS Rajapuri was a steel screw steamer of 236 tonnes built by the Grangemouth Dockyard Co in 1887 for the Bombay Steam Navigation Co. Her sister ship Vaitarna sank in a storm.
