Description
Brass yardstick in a wooden box. Stamped on the lid of the case and on the body of the measure is "BURGH OF FALKIRK/ 598 IMPERIAL YARD BURGH OF FALKIRK PONTIFEX SONS & WOOD LONDON 598". There are various markings on the body of the measure with the following dates appearing above the portcullises 1908,1918 and 1928.
There is a yardstick on display at Callendar House stamped "IMPERIAL YARD BURGH OF FALKIRK 1835", which is presumably this object.
