model; ship; "Fair Maid"

Description
Small model of the paddle steamer "Fair Maid". Black hull, white superstructure and yellow funnel.
A passenger ship the Fair Maid was owned by the Grangemouth and Forth Towing Co. Based in Leith and Grangemouth, from 1927 it made daily trips from Leith to Aberdour, Kirkcaldy, Kincardine and Alloa. Many local firms hired it for evening cruises or the annual work’s outing. Demand for the steamer services disappeared almost overnight with the start of the Second World War. The end of the war also saw the end of the Fair Maid and it was scrapped in 1945.
