Description
Large flower trough with moulded sides showing putti and a goat. One putti facing the goat is wearing a mask. Another is climbing a tree. The ends have acanthus leaves at the mould seams. Golden yellow glaze which has crazed. Some firing fractures. Four claw feet.
This scene depicts a Bacchus Cult imagery and is similar to items pained by Jan Van Neck and was reproduced in ceramics and jewellery from the Neoclassical period on.
