Subject notes
A leather chaise longue and curtain conceal a bed recess with iron bedstead. There is a small table, a sink with cold tap, a leather armchair and sideboard. The mother is sitting by the range. The room is lit by a gas mantle.

Unlike other attic flats photographed at the time, there are no obvious signs of damp and it has running water and gas lighting. The furniture would probably have been bought second-hand, a common practice.
