Object detail

Administrative History
Grahamston Subscription School was funded by subscribers. It was opened in 1810. After the passing of the Education Act of 1872 the school had ceased to be a day school and was let out in the evening and during the day it was leased to Falkirk Burgh School Board temporarily while the proposed Northern School was built. The committee stayed in operation for many years and attempted to get Robert Dollar to help with the cost of using the site for public baths. This came to nothing, for although Dollar was agreeable to the plan Falkirk Town Council did not feel the site was large enough for public baths. The committee was still going in 1926.
