Description
Brass card plate - rectangular with rounded corners. The scene in the recess shows ten characters from the opera "The Belle of New York" with shops in the background. One of the shops says "shop suey" and another "Sing Hi". In the bottom right hand corner is the signature of the maker. Heavily moulded around the sides are the words:"1947/ FALKIRK OPERATIC SOCIETY/ 1948". Four simple dimple feet on the underside.

Items were presented to Florence Brown of 13 Arnothill Gardens (aged 80 in 2003) as one of the lead players in the opera that year. She was with the society for some 25 years, before emigrating to Canada. Sister-in-law of the donor. Made by Mr Anderson of the Falkirk Operatic Society at a local foundry.
