samian; decorated

Description
2 joining body sherds with the bottom of the egg and dart band. Below this the two pieces contain a U-shaped swag containing foliage(?). Worn.
Form 37, Central Gaulish. Two fragments probably from the same vessel (from 08 & 33), showing a fragmentary and poorly impressed ovolo, probably Rogers 1974, B143, over panel decoration divided by bead rows with terminals which appear to be from worn poinçons. The two fragments are as follows:
a) (from 08)The left hand panel contains the standing figure, O.581. To the right is a plain double bordered festoon containing the arm of a small figure, possibly the amazon, O.243.
b) (from 33) A double-bordered festoon, contains a tree, possibly Rogers 1974, N4.
The ovolo and standing figure appear in the work of Cinnamus and this is probably by him or an associated potter. Mid Antonine
