samian; decorated

Description
1 decorated body sherd.
Form 37, Central Gaulish, burnt slightly on the exterior surface. The lower zone of a zonal decoration divided by wavy line borders is extant above a basal cordon. Plain double festoons are suspended from astragali (Rogers 1974, R22) with a pendant vertical wavy line and triple leaf ornament (Rogers 1974, G32) between each pair of festoons/astragali. The left hand festoon appears to contain a design incorporating bead rows; the right hand festoon has the hare O,2116. The upper zone of decoration included a diagonal bead row and what may be a large ivy leaf. The hare, festoons and triple leaf are all used by Tittius II/Cassia. Early-mid Antonine.
