Subject notes
Although one-storey, the attic is probably floored allowing two bedrooms to be created upstairs. They would be lit by the skylights, both of which are wide open. Corrugated iron was seized on by many crofters to replace the traditional thatch. It provided less heat insulation and was noisy when it rained, but it required little maintenance compared to thatch and did not need to be replaced every few years.
