Subject notes
There is a sheepfold in the higher valley and there appears to be woodland and farms in the lower valley. Sheep-farming is a major component of agriculture in the Borders and gave rise to an important breed, the Cheviot, bred to suit the conditions. The hills are lower and more rounded than those of the Highlands.
