Subject notes
Glaciation left many U-shaped valleys in the Highlands. They have wide, flat bottoms and steep sides. Often they are flooded to form inland lochs or, as in this case, a sealoch. Soils here are generally poor and rainfall high, and sheep-grazing is one of the main forms of agriculture. Blackface sheep were common as they are hardy but these appear to be a more southern breed which will produce finer wool and more meat.
