Subject notes
The ship appears to be painted grey, probably a legacy from the war which ended three years earlier. It may be that there was no work for it so it has not been repainted for civilian use and is laid up in Loch Gairloch. Alternatively, it may be a cruise ship. n the late 19th and early 20th centuries Gairloch was served by steamers sailing from Oban, Portree and Stornoway. There was a coach connection to Loch Maree used by tourists.
