Subject notes
In the distance the hay has been cut and gathered into haystacks. To the left is a roofless croft house. The dark mounds in the distance are probably stacks of peat, cut from the ground for use as fuel. The mountain is Slioch, which is above Loch Maree. The fencing is probably a sheep fank used to hold sheep for shearing earlier in the summer. The larger building is Opinan School and Youth Hostel, now closed as pupil numbers will have fallen and primary schools no longer need to be within walking distance.
