Subject notes
The village straddles the Oban to Lochgilphead road and the road climbing up to Loch Avich. The new two-storey semi-detached houses were built by the Cruden company. The hotel was built in Victorian times to serve anglers wishing to fish on the inland and sea lochs in the area. The church served not just the village but a widespread rural population which walked to the services held there.
