A large shed has been built next to it and there are bicycles leaning against it. There is a shed of corrugated iron at the back of the village with people at its back window. To the left are new semi-detached houses.

The hotel was built in the Victorian period, to cater primarily for anglers, both sea and fresh water, and for walkers. The houses were built by Crudens company, perhaps for forestry workers.
