Subject notes
There is a banking to the left with broom and the trees are a mixture of broad-leaved and coniferous. Building dykes was a skilled job but it cleared the field of stones and provided an effective field boundary and windbreak. Poor soils and a short growing season encouraged specialisation in livestock rearing and fattening to produce meat of the highest quality. The local Aberdeen-Angus breed is world famous.
