Beyond is a boatyard with a boat on its slipway. A fishing boat is entering the harbour at low tide and boats are moored in the far harbour. The fish market is adjacent to the inner harbour.

Macduff is an important fishing port with a large harbour dating from 1760 and sits across Banff Bay from Banff, another important port, from which it is separated by the River Deveron. The fish market was later demolished.
