View through the pillars of the fish market of a fishing boat entering the harbour at low tide. There is a boat on the slip of the boatyard opposite. On the hill is a church. Its spire has a rounded dome.

Macduff was previously known as Doune. It is an important fishing port with a large harbour dating from 1760 and sits across Banff Bay from Banff, another important port, from which it is separated by the River Deveron. The fish market was later demolished.
