Subject notes
Portessie is a former fishing village standing on a small crescent-shaped bay to the west of Portessie Bay. The north-east coast has a succession of towns and villages based on fishing. Over the years the boats have come to be based on a few of the larger harbours. This is partly because of better facilities but also due to the designation of only certain ports for landing fish.
