Description
Jardiniere in the form of a bear lying on its back with legs in the air. The paw pads and toes are well modelled. The head is raised, the mouth open, with red interior and two prominent canine teeth in the lower jaw. Thick olive green glaze, which in the sunken lines denoting the fur appears black. The glaze is particularly thick on the base inside the jerried and on the basal rim on one side of the exterior. The other side of the basal rim is bare, exposing the cream coloured clay. Two contact points also occur on this rim. The base appears to have been made separately as there is a curving fracture where it joins the body. Prominent DUNMORE stamp on the base - type 1 (uneven line).
