View towards Kyle of Lochalsh showing MV Loch Seaforth and another ship moored at the railway pier, probably MV Lochnevis. Heading towards Kyle is one of the four-car turntable ferries on the Kyle - Kyleakin run.

MV Loch Seaforth operated the Mallaig - Kyle - Stornoway service and MV Lochnevis the Mallaig - Kyle - Portree service. Both were owned by David MacBrayne Ltd. The ferry to Kyleakin was operated by the Caledonian Steam Packet Company. The company was owned by British Railways which also operated the Clyde steamers. The Skye ferry was very profitable but ceased when the bridge was opened in 1995.
