Subject notes
The David Macbrayne steamer Loch Seaforth (1089 tons) was completed in 1947 and sank in 1973 after striking a rock. She served on the Mallaig - Kyle - Stornoway route. The Skye Bridge now crosses the narrows about where the ship is passing. It replaced the car ferries that operated between Kyle on the mainland and Kyleakin on Skye.
