Maker

Production date

Description
Text on negative envelope reads 'St Mary's Loch. View on way to St Mary's Loch'. View of a river valley, possibly Borthwick Water. The valley bottom is gently sloping and is devoted to pasture where sheep are grazing. The hills are rounded and appear to be covered in grass. The roads are unmetalled. There is a large farmhouse to the right, enclosing a yard. It has a greenhouse built on to the gable end and outbuildings with arched doorways. Behind it is an open-sided barn. To the left is a two-storey house. There are stands of broad-leaved and coniferous trees. The field boundaries are drystane dykes. Some of the higher ground has been enclosed and improved.
