Description
Large cast iron 3 cylinder pumping engine, painted dark green with red lettering. Built on brick plinth. Made in 1914 and for many years operational at the works of William Bin & Co, Coatbridge. Used to provide the hydraulic pressure within the works for the operation of various machines. The machine pumped a receiver, pushing up to 70 tons of pressure used in steel fabrication. Electric motor by Bruce Peebles & Co. Ltd, Engineers, Edinburgh. This is the same company that laid the tram system for Falkirk.
