Description
Fine round walnut and marquetry centre table, c 1850-60. The circular top centred by an inlaid panel of a tambourine, a quiver, a flambeaux, and flute, surrounded by ribbon-tied flowers and leaves. The radiating panels inlaid with ribbon-tied musical instruments and music surrounded by flowers and leaves, outlined with inlaid scrolls of leaves, acorns and vines, and within an ebonised moulded edge. The turned and carved stem with acanthus leaf carved, scrolled and moulded tripod supports, on brass castors. The quality of the work is said to be comparable to that of the Blake family (cf tables at Temple Newsham and Alnwick). This photo is not scanned.
