Prof. Thomas Holloway (born 1800 and died 1883) started selling his pills and lotions in 1837, but was arrested and spent some time in debtors' prison (reason unspecified). On release he "prospered mightily" and the business continued in the same name until the early 1900s, when it was takenover by WG Myers.
