Description
An epergne or centrepiece in silver with two cherubs supporting a beaded band hung with balls. It is one of a pair.
Part of a silver dessert service presented to Provost John Russel of Mayfield, JP, in 1877 by his friends to mark their appreciation of the great value of his public services and presented in 1923 to the Town Council by RWM Walker, son-in-law of Provost John Russel. It consists of 10 pieces plus a fitted packing case.
