Description
Grotesque toad, sometimes called a frog these were used as planter sometimes for fern planting (it does not have drainage holes). They are sometimes described as vases. This one is a yellow version. Moulded spotted skin with cut mouth. Stamped DUNMORE in large letters on the base.
Dunmore made these in a number of sizes and colours, they frog is the Chinese grotesque three-legged lucky money frog, a traditional symbol of prosperity and well-being. An alternative version has the same frog in a seated position with its head raised and mouth open to hold flowers.
