Description
Three men standing beside large felled tree. 'Douglas fir pole. 100 feet long by 12 feet (lop?). This is a photograph of one of the first batch supplied from Murthly Estate. Customer MoD. These were bought from Murthly, Methven Castle and Glamis. The first lot were railed from Dunkeld station.....for fabrication and creosoting. Subsequent poles were transported by road. (W Smith will tell you about this) Approx 40 poles in all were shifted from Liverpool to Singapore. Present factor at Murthly, Mr King, is in the picture.'
