Description
Collection of white, cream and brown buttons. These were recovered by the donor from the canal basin at Port Downie, where they had been disposed of by the manufacturer as rejects. At the time the basin was being filled in. The buttons did not all have their holes properly punched and this was done at home by the donor. They were kept in a box in the sewing cupboard just in case they were wanted for 60 years and finally donated to the Museum as a result of attending a talk in the Irving Church. They were made by Cork & Seal Ltd at the Port Downie Works, Tamfourhill during the Second World War.
