Subject notes
The car belonged to the local doctor, Dr Spencer, whose practice was in Lumley Street. The car, MS 5762, was registered in Falkirk in 1925 or 1926. The central building belonged to the Commercial Bank of Scotland, one of eight Scottish banks at that time. In the 1820s the bank pioneered the concept of a national bank having a network of local branches. (It later merged with the National Bank of Scotland to form the National Commercial Bank of Scotland, which in turn took over the Royal Bank of Scotland in 1969 and adopted its name.) The building on the right is the La Scala cinema.
