Description
Business correspondence, personal correspondence, memorabilia, photographs, video recording.
The papers arrived in cardboard boxes that had been stored in the donor’s garage for many years. They were quite dirty and basic cleaning was undertaken to stabilise the physical condition of the records. Staples and rusty paper clips were removed and replaced with archival quality paper clips. The records were transferred to acid-free boxes afterwards.
An accession number was allocated to the first deposit made in April 2001 and a different accession number was allocated to the second and larger deposit made in October 2004.
The records arrived without any order and the original order was impossible to reconstruct. Therefore the following scheme was used:a) Correspondence
- Business
- Personal
b) Memorabilia
The chronological order in which the records arrived was retained. No records were destroyed as all were deemed of permanent preservation
