coarseware

Description
A fragment fired to cream at the surface, but otherwise pinkish-brown; with traces of a brownish-cream slip; ill-sorted, moderate, quartz, red-brown with rare black inclusions with almost a layer of quartz near the upper surface. This is from either a mortarium or a dish. If it is a mortarium, then it is a flange fragment from something like Hanson 2007, p340, fig 10.21, no. 58 which is a local product from Elginhaugh. If it is a mortarium it should be Flavian.
