The family timber business began in Grangemouth with Thomas Jones in the 1830s and was continued by his son, James who set up James Jones & Sons Ltd in 1875. James Jones also went into partnership with Dermot Campbell in 1888 as Jones & Campbell Ltd, an ironfounding business based at Larbert Iron & Stove Works.
