model; carronade

Maker
Carron Co
Description
Large model of a carronade gifted by the Carron Company to the family of the donor. The gun and wheels are made of cast iron (with the sights a little off centre). The carriage and skid are of wood with iron fittings. The Royal cipher GR and crown are heavily moulded on the top in front of the touch hole. The type of carronade represented is one with a suspension loop below the barrel - dispensing with the need for trunions. It should have an elevation screw at the cascible, but this was never present on the model.
