Description
Body sherd of a Dr 37 (2005-99-1). Cinnamus ovolo 5 (S&S, Fig.47, Rogers B182) lies over a beaded border and winding scroll design. The left hand lobe of the scroll shows a large plain double-bordered medallion containing the sea-panther, O.46. The right hand lobe contains a stylised leaf, Rogers J15 and the corner of what is probably the Cinnamus stamp, NOTS3, 22, die 5b).
The letters XA have been inked onto the back.
[NB: the original accession number of this item is missing] 1 body sherd of type DR 37 with egg and dart border and a roundel containing a beast. Ovolo= S & S fig 47, No. 5. General pattern S & S plate 161, No. 53 including exact leaf and tendrils. Beast as Oswald, Plate III No 46 noted to be used by Cinnamus. 150-195 AD.
