samian; decorated

Description
1 decorated body sherd of samian. The top contains part of the egg and dart band, below which is a poorly moulded band of decoration.
Form 37, Central Gaulish, apparently damaged in removal from the mould so that the lower decoration is all but obliterated. The ovolo is Rogers 1974, B223 used by Casurius, Cinnamus, Pugnus and Secundus I. It is superimposed on a guideline, a feature of the work of Pugnus and Secundus I, cf. S&S, Pl.154-5, Rogers 1999, Pls.89 & 108. The animal below is too smudged for identification. Probably early-mid Antonine.
