The 'Gypsy Queen' was launched in 1905 in Paisley and was the largest boat to sail on the canal. She sailed on excursions from Port Dundas in Glasgow to the countryside at Craigmarloch (near Kilsyth) where James Aitken, her owner, had built a large tea room.
