Subject notes
A man looks over his shoulder to watch the camera. The close is cobbled and the buildings are of whitewashed stone with pantile roofs. Access to the upstairs flats is by forestairs with wooden banisters. The window has an external shutter. The bucket probably contained water fetched from the well as poorer houses had no running water.
