Papers regarding five employment contracts or indentures and arrangements for children of miner killed. Includes contract, Joseph Dawson with Peter Cullen (under 17) as a sailor for 4 years on board the DYNAMENE (Top sail schooner), 1837; Instructions by W.Dawson for contracts with James Aitken, David Smith, Alexander Mitchell, William Allan, Adam Sutherland, Robert Oswald and James Yorkshire, all Sand Moulders, 1854; Contract, W Dawson with James Anderson as keeper, coaker, fitter, coal or coak wheeler, mine wheeler, limestone breaker, labourer or any other work, paying the same wages as other furnace men or labourers employed at the same time, 1860; Instructions for contracts with David Reid and his son William Reid and George Binnie and John Mauchline with wages all specified, 1870; Andrew Gordon, Manager for Carron Company with David Inglis and James Bain as sand moulders failing that labourers, 1873; and Minute of Agreement, 1855, between William Johnston, Mineral Manager, Carron Company’s coal works and Marion Rae, William Rae and Helen Rae, all Carronhall Colliery, children of the late Andrew Rae, Collier, with the consent of Thomas Rae and Andrew Rae, both Colliers at Carronhall relating to arrangements following death of Andrew Rae, killed on 26/9/1855 by a Pit accident - family to keep dwelling house rent free and with free coal, Marion Rae and William Rae employed at the Colliery and 2/- per week provided for Helen until she was 17.
