Cream crimplene and nylon trouser suit. The top has a long rounded collar and a front zip from neck to hip. The front shoulder seam is gathered to the back to give a smock effect. There is top stitching on the collar and shoulder seams. The sleeves are short, and the left belt loop is missing. Belt- is plain of same fabric. Trousers-front fastening zip and a petersham style waist. There are back and front darts and the C/F crease is topstitched, one waistband clip is missing. The labels on the top of the trouser reads ' St. Michael crimplene and nylon, Made in Britain. The top label also gives size. There is a care label on the reverse. Belt with it in box.

1996-052-050 suit; trousers (woman's)

Orange leather lacing shoes with a brown trim and brown strip from the top of the laces to the tip of the sole. There are ten metal eyelets with a black synthetic lace. The upper lining is made of black, white and grey synthetic material, the sole and insole are synthetic. Part of the insole inscription has been rubbed away, the remaining part reads ' YOUNG MODERN, FLATTIES'. The sole inscription reads ' Biarritz, Made in England'

Orange combed cotton ribbed sleeveless jumper with polo neck. The armholes are faced in the same fabric and there are no side seams. The label reads "Made in Italy. Omce, 100% combed cotton".

Woollen checked suit. Jacket is of a classic design, double-breasted in style with the lapel and collar. There are two jetted pockets with flaps on the front and six buttons. It is fully lined and its label reads' Reville of London'. Trousers- of the same fabric have an elasticised petersham style waist and front zip fastening. They have a tapered shape and are unlined. Skirt- of same fabric. It has a petersham style waist, left side seam zip hook and eye. The skirt is A-line and is above knee-length. It has two front and four back darts. Only the back piece is lined. Bought in London in 1965 the short skirt seems very daring to the purchaser at the time.

1996-052-049/001 Suit; woman's (jacket, trousers and skirt) 1965

Red and white plaid flared skirt. There is a petersham style waistband and a left side zip fastening with a waist clip. The skirt back is plain with four darts. The skirt front has four pleats, two on each side of the centre front. They are stitched from the waist to hip and are narrow in depth. A piece of the same fabric onto the top of each pair of pleats. It forms two loops one larger than the other. There are two labels the first reads 'St Michael, Cotton, Made in Britain' with a care label. The second gives the size, length and code no.

Cream coloured flared skirt of polyester and rayon. It has six flared panels and a broad waistband. The fastening is with a zip and button on the left front side seam. The label reads 'C & A. Polyester/Rayon, Size 18, Made in UK. Measurements and care label.

1996-052-053 breeches; woman's Early 1970s

Black velvet cotton breeches. They are front fastening with a zip and a button on the waistband. There are two jeans style pockets on the side seams and the back has two darts. The legs of the breeches are pleated onto the knee band which opens with a vent on the outside leg. There are two buttons on each band. The first label reads '100% cotton. Made in Britain' with a care label and the second gives the size.

White cotton jodhpurs - front fastening with six buttons. There is a watch pocket on the right front trouser panel and a button on each inside seam at the waistband. The trouser back is shaped to rise at the centre back and they have been taken in down the centre back seam. The trouser legs are topstitched down the outside seam and they taper to form stirrups at the hem. The stirrup straps fasten with a button. There are two types of button, one reads 'A.A. Leem & Sons 1937' and the other 'Our Own Make. SR 1916'.

Black double breasted coat with stand-up collar. There are six buttons down the centre front. The coat bodice and skirt are cut in two pieces. The bodice section on the front has the button and two bust darts. The skirt section has two jetted pockets. The coat is cut so that it narrows to the hem. The sleeves are long and are cut in a fitted Kimono style. The coat back is cut in two sections. The coat is of the early mid 1960s style made popular by Jackie Kennedy. The label reads 'Richard Shops, Such Clever Clothes'.

Brown Gannex raincoat with knitted collar insert. The top half of the lining is in burgundy nylon and the lower half in black, red and yellow plaid. The coat has a fitted collar, two bust darts, four front fastening buttons, with a smaller collar button. There are two slanted jetted pockets on the front. The sleeves are long and raglan style. The back is plain with a centre back vent, all seams are top-stitched. There are two labels one with fabric content and care instructions. The other 'By Royal Appointment. A Gannex Product. Tailored by Lagan Textiles Ltd.

1996-052-057 coat; woman's 1960s-Early 1970s

Purple woven check dress, fitted style. It has a round neck, and the bodice section has been cut in two pieces giving a geometric effect. The sleeves are 3/4 length and slightly gathered on the shoulder. The skirt is straight and is sewn onto the bodice with two tucks on the front and two darts on the back. The back bodice has been cut in two pieces giving a yoke effect and there are two darts on the waist seam. There is a centre back zip from neck - hip. The belt is plain and has been cut on the bias. The dress was made at home by the donor.

1996-052-058/001 dress: woman's Mid 1950s

Purple woven check jacket incomplete No.1 jacket section consists of back piece and two front pieces. Shoulders and side seams have been sewn up as have shoulder and neck darts. Interfacing has been stitched to all three pieces. No.2 collar section has been sewn up ready to be attached. No.3 has been cut out and unsewn. No.4 sleeves top and under sleeve have been stitched together. This jacket was made at home by the donor.

Vogue paper pattern - Cover front - Titled Vogue Paris Original printed over blue, white and red background. There are two photographic images one with a jacket and one simply showing a dress. At the bottom of the cover it reads designed by Paton'. The back cover is partially missing. It shows the bottom half of three illustrations. There is a cutting layout, measurements and notations for making the pattern. The paper pattern instructions and the pattern itself are complete.

White and red 'polka dot' blouse in nylon fabric. The blouse has a long rounded collar. It is front fastening with six buttons. It is of a loose fit with two bust darts. The sleeves are long and are gathered into a cuff which has one button. The label reads 'Keynote, Nylon, Size 18, to fit Bust 40'. A care label is on the reverse.

Red polyester flared trousers. Front fastening with zip and button. The trousers have a grown on waistband which has a white facing on the inside. There are two darts on the trouser back panels. The label reads 'Keynote, Polyester, Size 18, To fit waist 30', with a care label on the reverse.

1996-052-060 swimsuit; woman's Early 1970s

Black synthetic swimsuit. The front is made up of three panels and the bust section is padded. There is a skirt effect on the front only with the lower half cut as a separate piece. The back is low and comes to be a point around the middle of the back. The label reads 'Made in Sweden, 44 Size 14, Jersey Modelle'.
