Johnston, F & Co

Biography
The Johnston printing company had its origins in a printing works set up in 1763 by Patrick Mair in Glasgow. Mair moved to Falkirk in 1767 and retired in 1797. His son-in-law, Thomas Johnston took over the company and it remained a family firm until 1988 when it became Johnston Press plc and was floated on the stock market. The Johnston family continue to have an interest in the company. Branches at Grangemouth, Linlithgow, Bo'ness and Denny c1927.
