Biography
Established some time around 1860. Cooper, basketmaker and wireworker. Started in a shop in Kirk Wynd/ Bank Street. Later acquired Violet Grove in Bank Street, which was only relinquished in 2000. The company made wire equipment of all kinds - safety guards for machines, wire display stands and shelves for stores, wire baskets for self service stores; riddles, sieves and wire brushes for industry along with brass and wire cloths and parts for all types of industrial use. In the 1960s the firm entered the export market. One of their first export orders was for 21,000 electric fire guards for a firm in Holland.
