Hamilton
Biography
The Dukes of Hamilton (later Dukes of Hamilton and Brandon) owned Kinneil Estates and various collieries and other properties in the Polmont and Falkirk area. The family has various branches and had estates in various parts of Scotland, but mainly in Lanarkshire. The family and estate papers are held at Lennoxlove (contact the National Register of Archives, Scotland, for details and access), at Hamilton Public Library, and at the National Archives of Scotland.
