Betsy Boyd Aird (nee Arnot)
Biography
Betsy worked at Callendar House as a kitchen maid from around aged 14. She was sent to chop sticks with an axe one day at around age 16; the axe slipped and struck her kneecap and she had to have the leg amputated at the knee.
