Grangemouth Burgh Commissioners

Biography
In 1872, nine Burgh Commissioners were elected to run the newly constituted Burgh of Grangemouth under the General Police and Improvement (Scotland) Act, 1862. Additional powers were acquired in 1880 under the Road and Bridges (Scotland) Act. Grangemouth Burgh Commissioners were replaced in May 1893 by Grangemouth Town Council under the Burgh Police (Scotland) Act 1892. Thereafter, the members of the Town Council continued to act as Burgh Commissioners under the Public Health (Scotland) Acts.
