Originally part of Walter Alexander & Sons Ltd. In 1961 the British Transport Commission created a new holding company, Scottish Omnibuses Group (Holdings), re-named the Scottish Bus Group in 1963. The subsidiary bus companies were re-structured, resulting in the formation of W Alexander & Sons (Midland), W. Alexander & Sons (Fife) and W Alexander & Sons (Northern). In recent years, W Alexander & Sons (Midland) was taken over by the First Bus Group and re-named. The registered office of First Bus Ltd is in London. First Bus Ltd was incorporated in 1983 with the registration number 01752801.
