Laurieston Children's Day
Biography
Laurieston Village Association, Laurieston, Falkirk, organised the first Laurieston Children's Gala Day in 1901 to celebrate the relief of Mafeking by General Sir Baden-Powell in the Boer War. It became an annual event until the First World War started in 1914. The event was restored in 1931 and annually thereafter until 1939 and the outbreak of the Second World War. The event restarted again in 1950.
